Counselling Confidentiality

Counselling Therapy Cheltenham offers you a safe and confidential space for you to share and explore any difficulties that you are experiencing. Confidentiality is often given as one of the most important factors in seeking Counselling and Psychotherapy and also considered to be fundamental to a positive therapeutic experience.

Professional Duty of Care

As an experienced and accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist and member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) I conform to the Code of Ethics and Conduct set out by the BPS. In accordance with the BPS it is a professional requirement that in any situation where there are concerns for your safety and or the safety of others I have a duty of care to contact your GP and or any other relevant organisations. In these circumstances and as far as possible I would discuss any concerns with you before contacting a third party and would offer my continued support.

Your Confidentiality is Respected

Also as part of continued professional development it is a requirement that all Counsellors and Psychotherapists undertake regular supervision for guidance and support. As part of supervision the BPS Code of Ethics and Conduct are adhered to and the confidentiality and anonymity of the client is respected.
